TV: Glee
First off, I know that this show is probably considered to be for girls.
Second, even if it isn’t, it probably should be.
Third, I really really like it.
It needs to be noted that this is coming from a guy who has (in some cases) reluctantly seen all of the High School Musical franchise and who has been caught on numerous occaisions singing at odd times.
Alright, into some sort of legitimate review now that the disclaimers have been noted.
This is a pretty cheesy feelgood show about a high school glee club and it is very much a reply to the popularity of the High School Musical movies. It is in the same vein but has, from my experience, been received with many more positive reviews from an older crowd.. Maybe that has to do with the fact that it does not feature Zac Efron, who is still seen as a Disney Channel lackey.. Funny how perception is everything considering their similarities.
In any event, this show makes me smile at times, laugh a lot, but also embarrasses me sometimes. Good thing I usually watch it alone or I would feel quite embarrassed to be sharing in such a show with pretty much anyone.
Which is why I watch it alone.
Most weeks I find myself watching parts of it a second or third time through. The songs, to be particular. In some cases the songs are better than the originals.
The downfall of the show in my eyes, and one reason it’s slightly embarrassing at times is that it is often over the top. However, I get it… They’re trying to get accross a broadway feel with over the top stage acting and a lot of pizazz
I have to keep this short because I’m at work and it’s time to probably do a little of it, but in closing one thing must be said.
If you are not sold on this show, please refer to the last 5 minutes of the pilot episode, where you will be treated to a “Glee” version of one of the greatest songs of all time.

Squidman!
Don’t hold back on any review or anything else for that matter. Screw what other people think and just talk about what you want.
In the meantime, I can’t wait to read more.
